IdentityUp, LLC operates Tangled Land at tangledland.com and its legacy domain tangledtrivia.com. This policy explains how we use information when you visit, create an account, play games, link services or receive rewards. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].

Information we process

• Account information: email address, username, profile information, password authentication records, and session identifiers. If you choose Google sign-in, we receive the profile and verified-email information needed to identify your account.
• Game activity: rooms joined, answers, scores, rankings, game history, submitted claims, eligibility checks and reward records.
• Linked services: Tangled account identifiers and chat messages used for linking and game claims; tabla and ownership information obtained through Splot; and credentials you choose to provide for supported integrations.
• Rewards: the payout destination and transaction/status information required to process and reconcile rewards. Public blockchain transactions may remain visible outside our service.
• Technical and support information: IP addresses, browser/device information, request and security logs, and information you send when asking for help.

Why we use information

We use information to provide accounts and games, verify ownership and claims, process rewards, send service messages, resolve support requests, prevent fraud and abuse, secure the service and maintain reliable records. Optional analytics help us understand usage. Advertising can help fund the service; prizes are not compensation for clicking or viewing ads.

Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the service you request, legitimate interests such as security and fraud prevention, legal obligations, and consent for optional processing where required. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing that lawfully occurred beforehand.

Cookies and browser storage

We use cookies and local storage for sign-in, account and room state, security, linked-service authentication, privacy choices and interface preferences. Optional analytics and advertising technologies may use additional identifiers. Our Analytics integration waits for your explicit opt-in; Global Privacy Control prevents it from loading. Meta Pixel tracking is currently paused.

Google advertising and other providers

Where advertising is enabled, third-party providers, including Google, may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads based on previous visits to this and other websites. Google and its advertising partners may use advertising cookies to personalize ads where permitted and consented to. Google’s consent message provides applicable choices and vendor information. Hosting, security, email, authentication and other service providers process information needed to operate the service. Linked features may communicate with Tangled.com, Splot, reward/payment services, Google and YouTube. These services have their own privacy practices. Embedded media may contact its provider when loaded or played. We may disclose information to comply with law, protect people and the service, resolve disputes, or in connection with a business transfer subject to applicable safeguards.

Public activity

Usernames, public profiles, leaderboards, results, winning claims and community posts can be visible to other people. Linking a Tangled account may associate your public handle with game activity. Do not post secrets, API keys or sensitive personal information in public chat. Deleting information here cannot necessarily remove copies on independent services or public blockchains.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including account operation, reward reconciliation, abuse prevention, backups and legal obligations. Retention depends on the record and circumstances; we do not promise that every record can be erased immediately. We use safeguards to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your requests and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or opt out of certain advertising-related sharing. Email [email protected] with your request. We may need to verify your identity; do not email passwords or API keys. We will explain any applicable limits and respond as required by law. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. If a US privacy request is denied, you may request an appeal at the same address.

Advertising-related disclosures may be treated as a “sale,” “sharing” or targeted advertising under some US privacy laws. Use the advertising choices available on this page or contact us to request an applicable opt-out. A browser opt-out signal is not consent to optional tracking.

International processing and children

We and our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, appropriate safeguards must apply to international transfers. The service is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Changes and contact
